FAQ's about Kunaka Coaching

What is Kunaka?

Pronounced, 'koo-na-ka', it's a Zimbabwean surname and derives from the Shona tribe. In English, it roughly translates as 'good' or 'good taste'. Kunaka Coaching, is good coaching ;)

How much does coaching cost?

Transparency is important to me, both as a Coach and when I have also been coached by others. Like myself in the past, I know it can be a big financial commitment, especially with the cost of living crisis. Coaching can be powerful and have a positive and lasting impact for the next XYZ years of your life!

That's why I've restructured my fee's to be more inclusive and remove the financial barrier. Info on this can be found on the Helping, professionals. page.

Are you a qualified coach?

Coaching is an unregulated profession and you do not need a qualification to become a coach, there are some awesome coaches out there with tonnes of experience and skills too.

I have completed a Masters in Positive Psychology and Coaching Psychology (MAPPCP), and am affiliated with the European Mentoring & Coaching council (EMCC), the British Psychological Society (BPS) and the Career Development Institute (CDI). This means that I have undertaken professional study and training in Career Development, Positive Psychology and Coaching. I am an ethical practitioner also undertaking regular supervision and CPD for the benefit of my clients and my own development.

What is your coaching style?

Some of the models, techniques and frameworks I use in my coaching include: Solution-Focused coaching, Motivational Interviewing, Metaphor, Narrative coaching, Tree of Life, GROW/TH, Coaching for alignment, VIA strengths, Post Traumatic Growth, Mindfulness, Values informed and Systems Theories and more. I am happy to share more information into the research behind the principles with you throughout our coaching sessions.

I am also connected to a number of other coaches around the world with different specialisms who I would be happy to connect you with if there was something specific you were looking for if there is another coach who might be a better fit.

How long will we work together for?

Typically, coaching sessions are booked in either weekly, fortnightly or once a month. Depending on the number of agreed sessions, most coaching will be completed within 6 months unless otherwise discussed.

What will coaching do for me?

Everybody is individual and unique, you are the expert of your life. As a coach, I cannot guarantee the changes you want to see, you have to put in the work and the effort to create the changes you want in your life or career. What I can guarantee you is a non-judgemental space, where you will be listened to, asked difficult and challenging questions which will help to create awareness and potential for your growth.
